  i'm sick and tired of everyone claiming to be "offended".

  if you are not politically correct, you will need to apologize for some perceived slight.. when i was an elder, i purposely avoided as much as i could, anybody that got easily offended.

  1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).

  2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.

  this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

  Many of the seemingly good points that you raise can be applied to most christian religions. The bad points, however, are quite notorious and particular to JW's and few other groups that most people don't even consider religions, but cults.

  Ultimately, the religion of JW's is good for the senile, the depressed, the illiterate,and everyone who can only find happiness on fairy tales and lies. Unfortunately these people could not keep the religion financially viable. The rest of JW's are better off out of the religion, even though they may not know it yet.

  Welcome to the forum. However, don't stay too long if you want to hold on to your current beliefs, and more particularly, to the title of your opening piece. This is a place that opens minds. Definitely not a good place for people who rely on faith; more often than not they lose it.

  the more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.

  he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".

  he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

  i am going to rate my confidence in ten items of "knowledge" as a percentage.

  The possibility of the Earth being flat, even .1 %? As early as 1522 (almost 500 years ago) the first trip around the world was successfully completed, confirming the spherical shape of the Earth. No reputable sailor or airplane pilot has contested that concept in the last 500 years. How does that leave room for any remote, tiny possibility of a flat Earth? Try traveling westward (or eastward) only, I can bet you will get home without ever turning back.

  i just read in another thread about a co getting the pink slip.

  some speculated about high health insurance cost being a possible reason for the layoffs.

  it just occurred to me that the obamacare in the u.s. might be having a significant negative effect on the watchtower finances.

It just occurred to me that the Obamacare in the U.S. might be having a significant negative effect on the Watchtower finances.   I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  "The Name of God and the modern Jehovah's Witnesses religion are two different things".

  It's all the same: myths that make people feel good and give them purpose in life, but also converts them is arrogant fools. They are also myths that have become so popular that smart, but unscrupulous people capitalize on to exploit the innocent and the weak.

  Regarding the name Jehovah, I find it entertaining how people make such a big deal out of a combination of vowels of consonants and the idea that an Almighty Creator of the universe and omniscient being, is concerned about what little humans living in a ultra tiny speck of the universe think about his name.   Have a great life Eden. You and your wife are a great couple. It just surprises me that Viviane can have any influence in your life. I don't know the details of your exchanges but I know you and Viviane from your posts. Of the two of you, I see a greater problem in you for allowing to be annoyed by Viviane. Viviane is inflexible; I didn't think you were.

  Life is better if you are willing to tolerate the likes of Viviane, no matter what insults they hurl against you. It's just an internet blog where our anonymity gives us license to show our true personalities. We shouldn't take anonymous insults too seriously.
